I’m sure that I had been inspired by it’s use in various shows. The GURPS character sheets at the time had a basic outline for a character image that you could fill in to represent your character. We ended up putting aside our differences to counter this evil threat. We were not aware of this at the start of the campaign, I so I think we all prepped for some sort of paramilitary style campaign. The adventures that David went on involved running into cultists who were trying to use blood sacrifices to bring some other-world entity to this planet/realm. There is a General Sheet, with 2 pages, and a third page for awakened characters, a third page for matrix users, and a extra page, a copy of the sencond page but without information automatically placed, Might be usefull for a Street samurai, or anyone with lots of gear. Just play them as is, and when you run into combat, or hack the Matrix, or cast a spell, use the current edition rules for it. The first was used/planned for a sci-fi campaign. Playing older edition adventures with newer rules is easily done. Looking at the date I noted down, this was the second GURPS character I had created. I think I just needed something and I didn’t want to make someone from the UK or US who had a reputation with guns and a shady background. Mine was a gun-smuggler for the Irish Republican Army. The campaign was set in the 1990’s and we were all characters from different backgrounds. Looking back, I wonder what would have happened if I had kept more of that stuff? Another friend is a person who, I believe, ended up trading a lot of my early Dungeons and Dragons stuff with. I bump into one of those friends every once in a while. I was playing with a group of friends that I had in my early 20’s that enjoyed geeky things.
